Can you do farm work during Furlough

In short yes you could. There are some provisions detailed within the government guidelines regarding the corona virus job retention scheme

However it seems if you can gain permission from your main employer under whm you are currently furloughed you should be able to assit on farms during this years harvest. Details regarding working for a different employer can be found in the section headed "When employees are on furlough"

Many farmers are offering accomodation or low rent accomodation alongside a salary some productivity and binus schemes are also being run. Hourly rates are low but the work is essential and you would be classed as an essential key worker. If fruit and veg harvests dont get to market this year then food price hikes and shortages may well happen.

So if you have the ability to help gather this years harvest please apply direct to employers via our job listings.
